Apparently so in the eyes of my parental units.

Unfortunately for me, my parents are supportive in everything I do except writing fan fiction. Actually scratch that, I should say parent as in my dad. My mom is pretty supportive, but she does reiterate at times what my dad says which is,

"Why don't you write your own stuff?"

A very simple question to which I have a very simple reply.

"Because at the moment I am creatively shot for an original story."

Now for my last year in high school I was required to produce some extravagant project and this project determined whether or not I pass or fail high school, regardless of grades and what not. So I locked myself away from friends and family, spent every minute of free time I had on writing an original story. Now I had had the idea for this story about a year before I actually started working on the final draft, I'd write little bits here and there whenever they came to mind. Anyways, I finished it at the start of this year and then spent the two months leading up to my presentation of my book proof reading and then binding it myself. It wasn't easy, at all.

Ever since I finished it though, I haven't had any ideas for anything else, except fan fiction and I'm fine with that. At least people READ my fan fics. My own friends wouldn't even read my original story, and to someone who spent so many hours slaving over it until the wee hours of the morning, that really hurt. That's why I enjoy writing fan fics so much. People read them and review them and that makes me really happy. So what if I'm using characters that I didn't create? I created the plot for the fan fic, and usually a character with that plot.

The way I look at it is this: At least I'm writing something and fine tuning my skill, that way if the day ever comes where I get another completely original story, I can write it and hopefully not run into any problems.

But that's my rant for the day. I really needed to get that off of my chest.
